Did you know?
The ancestor of the modern pinball machine was the 1800's French "bagatelle" - a type of bumper pool game, which later evolved into a tilted table with a spring ball shooter that allowed players to launch a ball that fell somewhat randomly between nails and into pockets or wholes that awarded points or prizes. The game was often used as a gambling device and the closest equivalent today is the Japanese "Pachinko" machine.
